Awwww that means so much to hear! My tfc posting will continue indefinitely, just without any sort of clear schedule.

Well everyone, here it is. The last of this world. I hope you're ready for:

Coming into this session I had a very clear-cut and simple goal: make a pickaxe. get a bunch of copper, make brass with it. To accomplish this, I headed from the direwolf den to one of the copper deposits I had found on my way to collect my body. Once there, I collected enough surface copper to make a pick, and luckily there was a sizeable clay deposit just nearby. I used the clay to make a pickaxe mold, and emptied one of the small vessels I had taken with me to melt the copper down in. One 8-hour pit kiln later and I had a fresh new pickaxe. It felt good to be able to scrounge together the basic materials for a pickaxe on the road, I like solving the little situational resource puzzles you encounter in this game.

I toyed with the idea of digging for copper in this area, but I decided against it. There was no easy cave access to the vein, and I didn't want to use up the pickaxe I made just getting to the ore. So, I headed northeast to the original copper pit. I arrived without further incident, and made a simple basecamp for myself at the top of the pit: a campfire, a couple of chests, a straw bed. Then I got right to work, first installing a ladder, then adding supports and mining radially outward from the main shaft, keeping it mostly on the same level. There were a couple of cave-ins that caused some minor injuries, scary in the moment but thankfully nothing serious.

After collecting enough copper to satisfy me for the moment, I made the uneventful journey back home. I needed 7 copper double-ingots to make the anvil, which equates to 14 regular ingots. It was at this point I realized I could use the forge to melt things directly into small vessels, so I used that to melt most of the copper down into ingots. Another trip to collect wood for another pit of charcoal. While the charcoal was cooking I went through the delicate re-heating and welding process of the copper. It feels like it takes ages, but in reality it's pretty quick once you have a rhythm going.

With 7 double ingots made, I took them to the crafting table in the house and put them together into my first metal anvil! This process will have to be repeated for every anvil up to the steel alloys, and this is just the very first step. I took a short break from metalworking to put a roof over part of the animal pen, which I think looks quite nice with the bell and the little pond.

Now that the anvil was done I could finally work that brass I had made earlier.
{squiggles from the future here, I was going to explain how the metalworking, like, works in this section but I am not going to. Lol! I'll do it in the next world, promise.}
Finally, after all my hard work, I turned two of my ingots of brass into two brass mechanisms. This opens up a wealth of possibilities for me, as outlined in my last post, and my first acquisition will be the horse cart. I'll be making the one that has a bunch of storage space. I also explained how these work in the last post, but suffice to say this is going to make those resource gathering trips WAY easier.

I will need copper rods rods to craft the cart, so I set myself to the task, and... break all my stone hammers. I decide to get a little side-tracked and decide to cast up some copper tools, with which I'll be able to make the rods. I do so, making another charcoal pit while I wait for the kiln to finish. I make 2 copper hammers (one for welding, one for forging) and an axe (for all the forestry I'm sure I'll be doing in the near future).

I make the rods without further incident, and with them as the axles I put my cart together! I made it out of ash, and it looks great. I'm really excited to use it in the future.
_______________
Well, you know what happened. It is a shame because I grew really attatched to this world, but hey! The next one will be just as interesting, and I'm really jazzed to play with the new mechanics that are being added to the pack very soon. It'll probably be some time before the next post in here but hopefully it will be less than a year. Hopefully.
